Burnsville Boys Cross Country

2011 Middle School Meet Schedule 

Wednesday August 24th. Athlete/ Parent Meeting at Burnsville High School at football stadium @ 6:00 PM.  Each family member will be bringing food to share.  In case of inclement weather, we will have the meeting in the cafeteria.     

Thursday September 1st.   Early Bird St. Kates Meet. Be @ BHS by 2:00 PM.  Return to BHS by 7:20pm.  Race times:  JV 4:30, Varsity 5:30, Freshman 6:00.  This is for ALL GRADES.  This will be held at the campus of St. Kates.  Please come and support out runners as we are the defending champions in both Varsity and JV divisions.  Jr. High Athletes will run the Freshman Race. 

Friday September 9th.  Time Trial:  Nicollet Junior High.  Run the Burnsville Invitational Course.  Less experienced runners will be racing 1 mile.  Others will be racing 5K.  Experienced runners will be doing 12x200Meters afterwards with HILLS that is very similar to the SECTION course.   

Thursday September 15th.  Olsen Middle School---Bloomington. (Middle School Only) 3:30 race time.  Bus Times:  MJH – 2:10, BHS – 2:20, NJH – 2:30, ERJH – 2:45.  Races begin at 4PM.  We will return to BHS by 6PM.   

Friday September 16th.  St. Olaf Challenge (This supplants the Lakeville meet)  We can RACE on the STATE meet course to prepare to win it in November.  Race Times:  Boys Varsity 4:30 PM.  ALL run Varsity for this meet.  Here is your chance to prove you belong on Varsity.  Bus Times:  Eagle Ridge 1:20 pm, Nicollet 1:30, Metcalf 1:40.  High School 1:45.  Return to high school around 7:00 pm.    Workout following the race for some.  Last year we were 2nd by 1 point.  Let’s go and win in this year.  All Jr. High Athletes WILL attend this meet.  The race will be OPTIONAL for Jr. High Athletes. 

Saturday September 17th.  Annual WEBBER/GLAVAS Brunch FEST.  @ 9:00 AM.  Minnehaha Park.  Main Pavilion.  We will be doing this with the girls team.    Please notice time change.  Parking is also a paid situation unless you park in the neighborhoods and walk to the park.  .  Directions from BHS: Take Hwy 13 North to Hwy 55 west.  You will be going over the Mendota Bridge.  Turn right on 54th st E.  Go a few blocks and the park and parking lots will be on the right hand side.  We have the pavilion reserved.  We will be meeting there and having a GRAND time.  ALL are invited with family members.  ALL athletes will be running at least 60 minutes and some will be running upwards to two hours.  ----Please bring something to share to eat with the group.  There is electricity at the pavilion.  Call if you get lost.  612-251-8788.  This is required for ALL Jr. High Athletes.

Tuesday Septembert.20th Middle School ONLY.  Aronson Park.  Lakeville. Bus Times:  MJH – 2:10, BHS – 2:20, NJH – 2:30, ERJH – 2:45.  Races begin at 4PM.  We will return to BHS by 6PM.

Saturday September 24th--- Apple Valley Meet:  Be at high school @ 8:15 AM.  Boys JV race 10:25 AM,  Boys varsity:  11:35 AM.  Boys 9th grade race 12:05 pm.  Awards  12:45 pm.  Apple Valley return to high school around 2:00 PM.   

Tuesday September 27th. Rosemount Invite at Schwartz Pond.  Bus Times:  MJH – 2:00, BHS – 2:10, NJH – 2:20, ERJH – 2:35.  Races begin at 4PM.  We will return to BHS by 6PM.

Thursday September 29th.  Burnsville Invitational.  All will be competing is this event.  Race Times:  4:30 pm JV Boys, 5:30pm Varsity boys, 6:00pm Elementary.  Bus information:  Eagle Ridge 2:00  Metcalf 2:15.  High School 2:30 PM Drop off at Nicollet.  High School will leave @ 12:30 pm and help set-up the course.  Athletes will need to be picked up at Nicollet Junior High after they help clean-up.  

Saturday October 1st:  FUN-RAISER 11:30 AM @ BHS Track.  All families are welcome to come and walk and enjoy some exercise.  ALL participants will be collect donations for the program according to how many laps they run this day.  This is required for ALL Jr. High Athletes.

Sunday October 2nd.  Volunteer for Mile 20 water stop.  Information will be coming about this event.  We need at least 30 people to be part of this fundraiser.  We had a blast last year and this is a GREAT family event. 

Thursday October 6th.  Mikes Meet Eagle Ridge Junior High (Middle school meet only) Grades 9-12 will be helping run the meet.  ALL must get to Eagle Ridge by 3:00 PM.  We will be having pizza afterwards.  Please bring $5.00 for the cost of the pizza.  We will be finished at or around 6:30 PM. 

Monday October 10th.  Lakeville South Middle School meet at Kenwood Trail Middle School.  Bus Times:  MJH – 2:10, BHS – 2:20, NJH – 2:30, ERJH – 2:45.  Races begin at 4PM.  We will return to BHS by 6PM.

Friday October 14th  South Suburban Conference Meet:  Eagan High School.  Race Information:  Girls JV 3:30pm, Boys Varsity 4:05pm, Girls Varsity 4:40pm, Boys JV 5:15pm, Awards 5:50 pm.  Back to HS @ 7:00 pm.  Bus Information:  Eagle Ridge 1:25pm, Nicollet 1:35pm, Metcalf 1:45pm, High School 1:55 pm. (Middle school athletes are welcome to do this race) 

Please NOTE:  There will be practice during MEA week (October 17-22) at 8:00 AM.  We have to STAY focused during this week as we are almost there and NOW is the time to give it the last push for a STATE title run. 

Monday October 17th.  Dakota Hills Middle School Invite.  Races begin at 4 PM – meet at high school at 3:00.  There will be NO morning practice for Jr. Highers. 

Tuesday October 18th   2nd Annual MEA Challenge 1 mile race against Apple Valley High School---Be at the high school @ 2:30 pm.  All will be competing in the 2nd annual race.  Apple Valley won the event last year, let’s bring the trophy back to BHS.   

Monday October 24th.  Grade Level Championships.  Bassett Creek Park, Crystal.  Race Information:  4:00 pm Juniors and Seniors, 4:30 Sophomores, 5:00 PM Freshmen and under.  Bus Information:  Eagle Ridge 1:45pm, Nicollet 1:55pm, Metcalf 2:05pm, High School 2:20pm.   

Wednesday October 26th.  Sectional Meet:  Section Championships @ Les Bolsted Golf Course.  ****Please NOTE:  This is a change from years past:  Section 5 will also be competing at this event.  When we get more information, I will be providing it to you..  Bus Information:  Eagle Ridge 12:00pm, Nicollet 12:10pm, Metcalf 12:20pm, High School 12:30 pm.  Race Information:  NOT SURE YET. 

Saturday November 5th  STATE Meet.  Details to follow.  11:00 PM start time.  ALL  will be attending to HELP out the team.  Bus information:  BHS @ 7:45 AM.  Awards Ceremony at 12:00 pm.  Return to BHS at 2:00 pm.       

Sunday November 13th.  Regional Nike Team Nationals---Sioux Falls S.D.  We will leave on Saturday November 12th.  We will leave at 10:00 AM.  ALL can participate.  Top 7 will be competing for a NATIONAL spot.  Top 7 will be paid for by the booster club, the rest, you will need to pay your own way.  We will probably need at least three different drivers for this event.  If you can volunteer your time, that would be much appreciated.  Volunteers will have their rooms paid for by the booster club.   

Thursday November 17th  End of year Banquet.  6:00 pm.  Nicollet Junior High 

Monday December 5th.  Winter training begins.    

You WILL need a parent note to leave school early for the meets – NO EXCEPTIONS!
