Burnsville Boys Cross Country

2010 Tentative Schedule

 

Monday June 14th.  Summer captains practice every morning at 8:00 AM unless noted on the website. 

 

Monday July 19-23  SUMMER CAMP Wild River State Park.  16 brave souls will be setting the team up for GREAT success.  Those attending, be at the high school @ 1:00 pm. 

 

Monday August 16th.  Formal Practice Begins.  8:00 AM.  Meet on the football field south end.    Make sure all paperwork is turned in on time. 

 

Saturday August 21st.  Alumni Meet.  West Cross Town Park (401 East Travelers Trail) Directions from high school.  South on Portland to first stop sign (East travelers trail)  Go West or right.  Park will be on the left side ½ mile down.  You may need to park at the Cub food parking lot as there is limited space.   Be at the park at 8:00 AM.  Each family is responsible for bringing something to share for afterwards.  See captains for what you will be bringing. 

 

Wednesday August 25th. Athlete/ Parent Meeting at Burnsville High School in cafeteria @ 6:00 PM.  For all participants.  We expect all athletes to be there with your parents.  Health professional will be present to discuss ways to improve performance.   BBQ to follow presentation.  Stay and enjoy some GREAT food.  Please bring a side dish to share.  If it is raining we will have the meal inside. 

 

 

Thursday August 26th.  Time Trial Gale Woods Regional Park. ALL will be participating.   Race times:  7-10 graders 8:30 AM.   11th and 12th graders  9:30 AM.    This will be used at a WORK-OUT day as many will also do the pursuit WO at 10:00 AM.  BBQ/Picnic to follow.  All are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to celebrate a great day.  Bus information:  leave BHS at 6:45 AM.  Return around noon. 

 

Wednesday September 1st.  8:00 AM.  Picture DAY Forms will be given out at the parent meeting.  And uniform day.  Make sure you have your picture form ready to go.  Practice to follow

 

 

Thursday September 2nd.   Early Bird St. Kates Meet. Be @ BHS by 2:00 PM.  Return to BHS by 7:20pm.  Race times:  JV 4:30, Varsity 5:30, Freshman 6:00.  This is for ALL GRADES.  This is on the south side of Lake Nokomis.

 

Saturday September 4th.  Marshfield Meet.  The top 8 SUMMER runners will be participating regardless of varsity or junior varsity will be making this over-night trip.  The team will be announced at the Alumni meet.  Start logging your miles NOW.    All athletes will be leaving on Friday September 3rd @ 1:30 PM.  Boys Varsity:  10:30 A.M.  Be back to BHS @ 4:00 PM  or so the next day.  Details of what to bring will be discussed at a later date.  

 

Friday September 10th.  Faribault Invitational.  Race Times:  Boys C race 4:oo pm, 4:45 Varsity, 5:40 pm JV, 6:30 pm Varsity.  Bus information:    Eagle Ridge 1:45, Nicollet 1:55, Metcalf 2:05, High School 2:15.  Return to BHS around 7:30 pm.  

 

Saturday September 11th.  Annual WEBBER/GLAVAS Brunch FEST.  Be at the park near his home @ 8:00 AM.  Beards Placanse Park.  Directions from BHS:  35W North to 62W---Go to Xerxes Ave and go north or right.  Go 15 blocks to 46th Street and go East or Right.  Go 4 blocks to Upton.  Go left at Upton and Park----go over the ridge and you will see the Gazebo.  We will be meeting there and having a GRAND time.  ALL are invited with family members.  For younger family members there is a great play area.  We have access to literally 50 miles of trails----great coffee shops---book stores, bakeries, etc.  All will be running at least 2 lakes and some will be going close to a 2 hour run.  Bring your bike, blades or just run or walk the lakes.  This is a GREAT tradition and we hope to have another banner year.  All that attend----Please bring something to share to eat with the group.  There is electricity at the Gazebo.  Call if you get lost.  612-251-8788

 

 

Friday September 17th.  St. Olaf Challenge (This supplants the Lakeville meet)  We can RACE on the STATE meet course to prepare to win it in November.  Race Times:  Boys Varsity 4:30 PM.  ALL run Varsity for this meet.  Here is your chance to prove you belong on Varsity.  Bus Times:  Eagle Ridge 2:00 pm, Nicollet 2:10, Metcalf 2:20.  High School 2:30.  Return to high school around 7:00 pm.  Money is due for the SWAIN invitational. 

 

Friday September 24th.  Mid-Season Time Trial @ Eagan High School.  OR at Terrace Oaks.  This will be a handicapped start with the entire team.  2 mile RACE. 

 

Thursday September 30th.  Burnsville Invitational.  All will be competing is this event.  Race Times:  4:30 pm JV Boys, 5:30pm Varsity boys, 6:00pm Elementary.  Bus information:  Eagle Ridge 2:00  Metcalf 2:15.  Drop off at Nicollet.  High School will leave @ 12:30 pm and help set-up the course.  Athletes will need to be picked up at Nicollet Junior High after they help clean-up.

 

Saturday October 2nd---Swain Invitational. Duluth  Be at high school @ 8:00 AM.  You will need $20.00 for the bus ride and $10.00 for dinner in Duluth.  More Details to follow.  Return to high school about 8:00 pm.  Race Details:  Junior Varsity 1:15pm  Varsity 3:00pm 

 

Tuesday October 5th  Chaska Invitational  Chaska Par 3 golf course.  Girls C 3:45pm, Boys C 3:45pm, Girls Varsity 4:45pm, Boys Varsity 5:05pm, Girls JV 5:25pm, Boys JV 5:45pm, 6:10pm Awards.  Bus Information:  Eagle Ridge 1:20pm, Nicollet 1:30pm, Metcalf 1:40pm, High School 1:55pm.  Back at BHS approximately 7:15 pm. 

 

Thursday October 7th.  Mikes Meet Eagle Ridge Junior High (This is for grades 7 and 8 only) Grades 9-12 will be helping run the meet.  ALL must get to Eagle Ridge by 3:00 PM.  We will be having pizza afterwards.  Please bring $5.00 for the cost of the pizza.  We will be finished at or around 6:30 PM. 

 

Friday October 15th  South Suburban Conference Meet:  Eagan High School.  Race Information:  Girls JV 3:30pm, Boys Varsity 4:05pm, Girls Varsity 4:40pm, Boys JV 5:15pm, Awards 5:50 pm.  Back to HS @ 7:00 pm.  Bus Information:  Eagle Ridge 1:35pm, Nicollet 1:45pm, Metcalf 1:55pm, High School 2:10 pm.

 

****We need some type of competition this week to stay focused*******Intrasquad meet or a meet with Apple Valley---Like 1 mile on the track to just work on sharpening.   

 

Monday October 25th.  Grade Level Championships.  Bassett Creek Park, Crystal.  Race Information:  4:00 pm Juniors and Seniors, 4:30 Sophomores, 5:00 PM Freshmen and under.  Bus Information:  Eagle Ridge 1:45pm, Nicollet 1:55pm, Metcalf 2:05pm, High School 2:20pm. 

 

Thursday October 28th.  Sectional Meet:  Section Championships @ Valley wood Golf Course.  Bus Information:  Eagle Ridge 12:00pm, Nicollet 12:10pm, Metcalf 12:20pm, High School 12:30 pm.  Race Information:  Boys 4:15pm.  ALL will be attending to HELP the TEAM get back to the STATE meet. 

 

Saturday November 6th  STATE Meet.  Details to follow.  10:00 AM.  All will be attending to HELP out the team.  Bus information:  BHS @ 7:30 AM.  Be prepared to be there till 1:00 pm.   

 

Saturday November 13th.  Regional Nike Team Nationals---Sioux Falls S.D.  We will leave on Friday November 12th immediately after school.  ALL can participate.  Top 7 will be competing for a NATIONAL spot.  Top 7 will be paid for by the booster club, the rest, you will need to pay your own way. 

 

Thursday November 18th  End of year Banquet.  6:00 pm Burnsville High School. 

 

Monday December 6th.  Winter training begins.
